Few studies have examined how Energy Star and EnerGuide labels are used and how well these labels are understood by consumers. It its unknown if consumers want information beyond what is currently on these labels to aid in making informed choices on energy efficient products. Historically it is known that consumers want to compare and contrast items prior to making a purchasing decision. This research contributes to understanding the information needed by consumers to make these comparisons. This report is offered free of charge, but your voluntary payment will help support the research and advocacy of Consumers Council of Canada.
