A guide to the inclusion of Consumer Representation by individuals and consumer organizations in regulatory processes and governance and in public policy development through consultation and public hearings. Effective consumer representation brings the consumer perspective to decision-making just as effective industry or professional representatives bring theirs. A consumer representative may be a full member of an organization’s board or committee, or may be someone specifically consulted on a specific issue or range of issues. This publication seeks to bring together global best practices, research recommendations and lived experience to educate about elements of meaningful consumer representation.
